Bus Ticketing Solution specifications

  • Tamper-resistant AutoCam camera technology and artificial intelligence
  • Easily identify transgressing driving operators
  • An efficient way to address the problem at its source.

Camera

  • Four internal Autocam’s are installed at the same position, dependent on the body type, in each of the operator’s busses.
  • The cameras record at 2 frames/ second, a few seconds before and after the vehicle slows to 10 km/h or less.
  • The frame rate increases to 8 frames a second when an exception is detected and this will be marked on the video clip and form a part of the reports issued.
  • The cameras will record out of trip footage, should a motion be detected by the cameras while the vehicle is out of a trip.

Free ride tagging

The purpose of Free Ride Tagging is to determine which passengers have not paid for their bus ride and to flag it accordingly on the Autotrak system.

  • All passengers boarding the bus are checked to verify they are paying for their ride (cash or card).
  • A free ride is deemed to have happened if a passenger passes the mark without interacting with the driver in any way, even if the passenger comes back to pay later.

Failure to issue

Failure to issue occurs when a bus driver is paid by the customer for the trip undertaken but does not declare this payment to Metro Bus.

  • Either no ticket is issued to the customer or an old ticket will be issued.

Revenue loss report

In both free ride tagging and failure to issue instances:

  • The video information is compared with the number of tickets issued from the ticket machine data and the number of passengers that the A.I. counted boarding the bus.
  • Both exceptions are grouped together on the revenue loss report and any discrepancies are highlighted on this report.
